    Eligibility
    Student Activities Good Conduct Rule
Participation in school sponsored activities is a privilege. Each extracurricular activity sponsored by Durant High School follows the Good Conduct Rule. Coaches/Sponsors will cover the Good Conduct Rule thoroughly with their participants. Each participant will receive a copy of the Good Conduct Rule at the beginning of their season/activity/organization. Please understand that the sponsor/coach of a respective activity/sport may establish firmer regulations than those in the Good Conduct Rule.

Durant offers interscholastic competition in the following sports: cheerleading, football, volleyball, cross country (boys and girls) basketball (boys and girls), wrestling, track (boys and girls), golf (boys and girls), baseball, and softball. In order to participate, students must meet academic eligibility requirements and complete the following forms: physical examination (annually), insurance waiver of liability, medical release card, and acknowledgment of risk. Forms may be picked up from the athletic director or the high school office. Students who ride an activity bus must ride to and from the event on the bus. Special requests for transportation must be made prior to the activity with the coach/sponsor. If parents personally appear and request transport of their student home, coaches may give permission on the spot, but only for that particular participant.

Additionally, the Durant School district follows the requirements set forth by the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) for participation in extracurricular activities.
