I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1986 with degrees in journalism, education, and English. In addition to teaching, I also worked in the field of journalism for seven years. I was a news editor for the Clarinda Herald-Journal and a reporter for the Burlington Hawk Eye.

At Durant, I teach a variety of language arts classes for sophomores through seniors.

On a personal note, I have been a die-hard Chicago Cub fan since the age of 5 after Ernie Banks sent me an autographed picture, which hung on my bedroom wall for many years. I also bike and read a variety of books and magazines in my free time.
