The Wildcats girls ran at their conference meet in West Liberty Friday, May 4th, and placed 12th out of 13 teams with a total of 17 points.
In one of her last races as a Wildcat, senior Breanna Moeller gave the team four points in the 400-meter hurdles. Moeller placed fifth out of 13 runners. Moeller ran her event in 1:13.89.
“I felt that I really pushed myself at the meet. I ran a PR that night,” said Moeller. “I feel like I have improved a lot through the season in the 400 hurdles. I went from running 1:20’s to 1:13 within two days and kept improving my time by a second every meet.”
When asked how she felt the team did this season, she said, “I feel like the team really worked hard even with our first five outdoor meets being cancelled at the beginning of the year. It felt like the season was really short, and we didn't have enough time to improve ourselves to where we should have been.”
Senior Amorae Myers also scored six points for the team in the long jump. Myers placed third out of 15 contestants. Myers jumped 15-04.00.
The shuttle hurdle relay team, which consisted of Moeller, freshman Lilli Nielsen, sophomore Addisyn Skinner, and freshman Kayley Latham, scored three points for the team placing 6th out of teams. They ran it in 1:18.25
The distance medley scored two points for the team placing 7th out of 11 teams running it in 4:44.56. The runners consisted of Myers and Moeller, freshman Abby Ryan, and junior Tori Novinski.
The 4x800-meter team, which consisted of junior Ellie Berry, sophomore Heidi Wolf, junior Kerrigan Johnson, and senior Morgan Russell, ran the event in 12:04.07. The relay scored two points for the team placing 7th out of 10 teams.
“There was tough competition but I was glad that we could get some points for the team,” said Johnson.
“It was a great race. I had great competition to compete with making my time better,” said Berry.
