DURANT JR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS - October. 21st, 2021

 

Items in the office for the following: 

 

There was a ring found in the high school hallway.  If you lost a ring please see Holly to claim it. 

 

Today’s lunch: 

Popcorn Chicken with Dinner Roll, Cat Pack- Sub Sandwich Choice, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Carrots, Lettuce Salad, Red Grapes, Fruit Cocktail

 

Tomorrow’s lunch:  

BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Cat Pack- Pizza Munchable, Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Carrots, Fresh Strawberries, Blueberries, Diced Pears

 

***Student Council will be hosting a Fall Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 26th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in the high school gym.  This is a B Day.  Student Council members will walk around during Seminar so students can sign up for this event.  You must be at least 16 years old to donate.  If you are 16 (not 17 or older), you MUST pick up a parental consent form from Mr. Trask or Mrs. Straube and have it completed by Monday, October 25th before the end of the school day.  You must also bring a PHOTO ID with you to donate.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Trask or Mrs. Straube.

 

Our Adult Living class at Durant High School will be raising money for a picture remembrance for our our school’s memorial wall for Cheryl Prohaska! We will be collecting money during seminar classes October 11th through the 22nd. Thank you for your donation! 

 

***No Student Council meeting this week. Our next one will be on Tuesday, October 19th.

 

High School Cross Country Runners Thursday for the district meet in Cascade, please dismiss runners at 1:30.  The van will leave at 1:40.  

 

Students if you are interested in attending University of Northern Iowa, next week Oct. 17-22  is free application at UNI. They are waiving the application fee for students who apply next week to UNI. The application fee code to include with the application submission is CT21. If you have any questions please contact the Officer of Admission: 319-273-2281.

 

Financial Aid season is now here!!! If your student is planning to go to college next year, there are some important steps in the financial aid process that your family needs to complete. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) became available on October 1st -- which means you can file the FAFSA now! Every college or university has their own deadline for the FAFSA -- some as early as November 15th -- so check out www.ICANsucceed.org/priority to find the priority dates for the schools you are applying to. If you have questions about paying for college, or would like free help filing your FAFSA, ICAN offers free resources for college planning and financial aid. You can visit their website, www.ICANsucceed.org/ to schedule an in-person or virtual appointment, or call their toll free number, 877-272-4692 to talk to an advisor.  

 

Are you looking for community service hours? The athletic boosters are looking for 1-2 people to help out in the concession stands during the games. Sign up on the board outside the office. 

 

FCCLA news- Please see Mrs. Feuerbach if you were unable to attend the meeting on October 4th.  We have a lot of exciting things happening.  Trick or Treating for Cans is coming up on Sunday, October 31st from 4:30-6:30!!  Our next meeting is Monday, November 1st! 

 

Check out the new Wildcat Chronicles website and bookmark it on your phone for easy access to sports, special events, and club photos along with the daily announcements.

 

Reminder to all students and staff that the P3 Campus anonymous tip reporting app and web browser is available free of charge.  P3 is a vital tool in keeping schools, students and staff safe.  Any student, staff or community member can report about a wide range of concerns and reporting can be made through the P3 Campus app or at P3campus.com

 

ALL STUDENTS: Do Not bring backpacks, bags etc to class. They need to be left in your lockers at all times. It is in the school policy for your safety and the safety of everyone else.

 

When attending any off campus college visit(s) students are required to get a college visit form from Mrs. Badtram to be completed and signed and a parent MUST call Holly to notify her that you will be gone from school
