WHAT DID THE PTO DO RECENTLY?
The PTO completed its big Inclusive Playground Project. We are soo happy to see this multi-year fundraising project officially complete. In 2018 we started this endeavor when we purchased the sensory wall, and than we kicked off our fundraiser to expand our playground with equipment that would allow all students equal opportunity to play. This summer we had under the swings resurfaced with playground tiles and added a new spinner. This couldn’t have been accomplished without a lot of support from some pretty awesome local business, community members and other members of this pto. Many hours of planning and grant writing have helped us get to this point.
The PTO has worked towards making the Durant School better than ever! Most recently we added a New Water Fountain and Bottle Filler to the Cafeteria, This will cut down on cost for the school and provide easily assessable water for lunch! The PTO has also teamed up with the Shop Class and worked to get New Bins for the elementary recess supplies. The old shed is also getting a makeover and will be utilized by the pre-school for their outdoor supplies!
The PTO host several family centered events throughout the year including Swimming, Roller Skating, Bowling, and recently the PTO hosted its 2nd Dodgeball tournament, It was a huge success again! We also host Breakfast with someone special!
This year we enjoyed supplying the Back 2 School Supply Kits! It is a convenient option to get school supplies shipped right to the school. We thank everyone who used this option. Please spread the word if you enjoyed it.
The PTO typically has 1 big fundraiser a year, along with spirit-wear sales. Last year we use the funds to install SIX new drinking Fountains with bottle fillers around the school. This year we are working towards inclusive playground equipment!
